Terms of Service

Taste Barbados (“Taste Barbados,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Barbados-focused food and food spot discovery service. These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of our website, accounts, search, maps, recommendations, voice search, ratings, saved places, and related features (together, the “Service”).

The Service is operated in Barbados. You can contact the developers at contact@tastebim.com.

By using the Service, or by creating an account after being shown these terms, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

If you use the Service for a business, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for that business.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you are not old enough to do so where you live, you may use the Service only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. The Service is not directed to young children.

The Service helps users discover food spots, food stops, and dining experiences. We may provide venue details, maps, links, recommendations, ratings, featured listings, and featured listings. Features may change or remain in beta while we improve the Service.

Unless we expressly say otherwise, Taste Barbados is not a food spot, booking agent, delivery provider, payment processor, or party to a purchase between you and a listed business.

Some search results or recommendations may be selected, organized, or generated using automated systems. They may also be based on the words you enter, places you mention, available listing information, popularity, relevance, editorial choices, or commercial placement.

Automated results can misunderstand a request or produce information that is incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Use them as discovery suggestions, not as professional advice or a guarantee of quality, suitability, safety, or availability.

If you choose voice search, the Service records the audio you provide and sends it to a third-party transcription provider, currently OpenAI, to turn it into text using the gpt-4o-transcribe model. Transcriptions may contain errors. You can use text search instead if you do not want to submit audio.

Our Privacy Policy provides more information about service providers, international processing, retention, and your privacy rights.

Food spot hours, menus, prices, ingredients, availability, accessibility, locations, ratings, and other details can change. Some information may come from businesses, users, public sources, third-party services, editorial work, or sample data used while the Service is in beta. A displayed rating or review count does not mean that Taste Barbados independently verified it.

Before visiting or purchasing, confirm important information directly with the business. This is especially important for allergies, ingredients, dietary needs, food safety, alcohol, accessibility, and medical or religious requirements. Do not use the Service for emergency decisions.

A listing does not by itself mean that we endorse the business or have a commercial relationship with it. A business may be able to claim a listing and provide or correct information. Businesses are responsible for the accuracy of information they submit and for having the right to submit it.

A business may pay for additional visibility. We will identify paid or sponsored placement where it appears. Commercial placement may affect prominence, but it does not guarantee quality, availability, or a particular experience.

You must provide accurate account information, keep access to your email and sign-in method secure, and promptly tell us if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. You are responsible for activity through your account unless mandatory law gives you different rights.

You may stop using the Service at any time. To request account or data deletion, email us from the address associated with your account. Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect the Service, or resolve a dispute, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

You keep ownership of content you submit, such as a username, rating, feedback, listing correction, business description, photograph, or review. You give Taste Barbados a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and share that content only as reasonably needed to operate, promote, and improve the Service. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where copies must reasonably remain in backups, legal records, or content already shared with others.

You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit the content and that it is accurate where presented as fact. Do not submit personal information about another person without permission.

You must not:

• use the Service for unlawful, deceptive, fraudulent, or harmful activity;
• submit fake reviews, manipulate ratings, impersonate another person, or misrepresent a business relationship;
• post content that is abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, infringing, or invasive of privacy;
• interfere with the Service, its security, or another person's access;
• introduce malware or attempt unauthorized access to an account or system;
• scrape or systematically extract data without our written permission; or
• copy, sell, or commercially exploit protected parts of the Service without permission.

We may investigate, reject, edit, limit, or remove submitted content, and may suspend or close an account, when we reasonably believe that the Terms of Service outlined have been broken, users or businesses may be harmed, the Service is being abused, or action is required by law. Where appropriate, we will consider the seriousness and frequency of the issue and may give notice or an opportunity to respond.

Taste Barbados' branding, design, software, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. We give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for personal, lawful discovery. This does not transfer ownership of our intellectual property or of content belonging to businesses, users, or other licensors.

To report inaccurate listing information or content that you believe infringes your rights, you can email contact@tastebim.com and you can also use our feedback form. Include the relevant page, an explanation of the issue, and information that allows us to contact you.

The Service may use or link to third-party services, including maps, authentication providers, transcription providers, social platforms, and business websites. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, or transactions.

We aim to provide a useful and reliable Service, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, secure, error-free, or accurate. To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”

To the extent permitted by law, Taste Barbados is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you began using the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility, warranties, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

We may change or discontinue features. We may also update these terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, safety, or our business. We will post the updated terms and change the date above. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable additional notice, such as a prominent message or an account notice, before it takes effect where practical.

Your continued use after revised terms take effect means you accept them. If you do not agree to a material change, you may stop using the Service and request closure of your account.

These terms are governed by the laws of Barbados. Courts with jurisdiction in Barbados may hear disputes relating to these terms or the Service.

If the law where you live gives you mandatory consumer protections or the right to bring a claim elsewhere, Barbados law and these terms do not take those rights away.

Before beginning formal proceedings, please contact us and give us a reasonable opportunity to try to resolve the issue informally.

If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our permission. We may transfer our rights and obligations as part of a reorganization, sale, or transfer of the Service, provided this does not reduce your mandatory rights.
